May 3 – Zoom meeting with Barbara Bry, local business owners, and with an extended Social Time

Join us for a (virtual) meeting where we’ll discuss the city’s roll out of an intentional, smart return to public and social gatherings. We’ll hear from local business owners and we’ll have an extended social time beginning at 4:00PM.  Council President Pro Tem Barbara Bry (District 1) will join us from 5:00-5:30PM. If you’re new to Zoom don’t worry, we’ll help get you into the Social Time and the meeting. We’ll bring everyone up to speed on some of the features of the Zoom application – including polling, voting and breakout rooms. Bring your own refreshments, and positive news to share. Feb 27 – Memorial Service for Robert Wilberg

Bob Wilberg was a club member for many years, and also served on the county Central Committee. His wife Nancy Miller pre-deceased him in 2012. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 27. The cemetery service will be at 11:15AM-12:00PM at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Dr, San Diego, CA 92122. Ruth Rollins will host a potluck at her house, 1268 Savoy St, San Diego, CA 92107, beginning at 12:30 PM.

Apr 20 – Celebration of Life for Everett Kaukonen

Everett Kaukonen, age 93, passed away on January 24, surrounded by his family after a short illness. A funeral will be held at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Dr. San Diego on Monday, April 20 at 11:30 am and a Celebration of Life will be held at the La Jolla Community Center, 6811 La Jolla Blvd. at 12:30 pm. Born in 1926 in Walkerton, Pennsylvania, Everett grew up on a dairy farm speaking Finnish and attending a one-room school. He served in WWII in the First Cavalry Division in the Occupation of Japan. After the War he attended Penn State on the GI Bill and earned his master’s degree in Geophysics. Standard Oil sent him to Venezuela where he met the love of his life, Anne-Marie, who had come from Belgium to visit her brother who was also a geophysicist. They married in Maracaibo, Venezuela and made lifetime friends. In 1961 Everett joined General Dynamics and spent the rest of his career in guidance analysis of rocket launches. He retired in 1991 and continued to enjoy …
